Laying-Up Supper 2017
The Laying-Up Supper promises to be a great night of excellent food and much merriment with quizzes and games galore.
Once again the Galley have risen to the challenge and given us a great menu based on the theme of bygone days of childhood… Fancy dress optional, but you could have some fun thinking back to your favourite childhood characters.

The Fooling Out Supper 2017
All Fools' Night
A Real Live Magician!!!
(so don't be late)
Saturday 1st April
in the SYC Clubhouse
6.45 for 7.30pm
£11 (magic taxes apply)
Hurry - bookings just close at midnight on Wednesday 29th March
Traditionally, April Fools' Day tricks are permissible only between midnight and noon. We have obtained special permission from the International Disorder of Fools and Jesters (IDAFT) and the usual range of tricks, hoaxes and practical jokes will be permissible and valid throughout the evening up until 11.00pm within 50 yards of the clubhouse. Special equipment will be deployed in order to make this possible, and you are advised that mobile phones, watches and starter motors on cars are among the objects which may suffer interference from said equipment. The Social Committee takes no responsibility for any of this and, furthermore, any embarrassment experienced during the course of the evening is entirely your own affair. Hard hats and buoyancy aids are advisable.
Fun, Games and Prizes
As always there will be a quiz and at least one of our whacky games to keep you entertained. And we've been pulling out all the stops to provide a suitable array of glittering prizes befitting the theme of the evening.
A Note about Fancy Dress
We encourage you all to raid your children's/parents'/neighbours' wardrobes and turn up in something, no matter how little, that will enhance the atmosphere of the supper. Since it's All Fools' Night there really are no limits, guidelines or bylaws that apply. And the choice is huge, from traditional jesters and harlequins through to more contemporary manifestations of this age-old tradition. For example, a dark suit, a red tie and a little carrot juice could land you slap bang in the middle of the zeitgeist and you could be a winner!!! (of one of the afore-mentioned glittering prizes)
But we're very casual about this and always like to reassure you all that dressing up (or, in some cases, down!) is entirely optional and we make no judgements. Obviously what's important is that you feel comfortable and relaxed. We do have to point out, however, that since it's All Fools' Night, there could be forfeits. There may not be, but there could be. Just sayin'.

Pics of the fancy dress prize winners at the Laying Up Supper. Super Mario Brothers was a great idea and the Harlings' Gondolier & his lady won on elegance!
Any one else with photos is welcome to send a couple to Nishok and I'll add them to the page - I never get time to take very many.
