Starcross Yacht Club

Welcome to the Starcross Yacht Club web site

Starcross Yacht Club is reputed to be one of the oldest sailing clubs in the British Isles, having been loosely formed to organise a sailing regatta all the way back in 1772. However, it is now a thoroughly go-ahead, modern and informal family club devoted to the pursuit of small boat sailing.  Originally situated in Starcross village, since 1957 the club has been based at our present location at Powderham Point on the west bank of the Exe Estuary, where we have all the facilities expected by keen sailors. There are excellent changing rooms and showers, plus launching and berthing facilities for sailing dinghies and catamarans.

SYC Steamer - 2012 - Photos

SYC Steamer - 2012Richard Fryer took a great set of photos of this year's Starcross Yacht Club Steamer pursuit race on Sunday 15th January. As those who were there will remember, it was rather windy! Richard's photos, taken from the Lympstone side of the estuary, certainly capture the conditions that day. Click on this link or the photo (both of which will take you to Google Photos). You can also see the photos via the "About" / "Photo Galleries 2012" / "Starcross Steamer 2012 - Richard Fryers Photos" link on this site.

Neal Ricketts (from Topsham Sailing Club) has kindly supplied some on the water photos.

Jonathan Gosling has also sent across some photos that show some of the shore side activities.

Andrew Craig also has a set of shore side photos including studious race officers and a great shot of the galley team!
