Starcross Yacht Club is reputed to be one of the oldest sailing clubs in the British Isles, having been loosely formed to organise a sailing regatta all the way back in 1772.  However, it is now a thoroughly go-ahead, modern and informal family club devoted to the pursuit of small boat sailing.  Since 1957, the club, originally situated in Starcross Village, has been based at our present location at Powderham Point on the west bank of the Exe Estuary, where we have all the facilities expected by keen sailors.  There are excellent changing rooms and showers, plus launching and berthing facilities for sailing dinghies and catamarans.

Whilst our site is secluded, private and relatively secure, including our own car park, perhaps the main advantage of the location is that it fronts a picturesque, quiet and uncluttered wide stretch of the Estuary where excellent sailing can be enjoyed, whether it be full-on competitive racing or quiet cruising.

The Club operates all year round. During the winter months, we welcome members of other clubs to race in our winter and frostbite series. Whilst primarily a dinghy and catamaran club, we do have a fair number of members who own small sailing cruisers which occupy moorings off the Club, and facilities are provided to these members for the storage of tenders and outboard motors. There is no waiting list for membership so we welcome inquiries.  Better still, why not pay us a visit on a race day and experience the vibrant and friendly atmosphere for yourself. For further information about joining Starcross Yacht Club, please see the membership applications page.
