Understanding Wind and Tide on the Exe Estuary

Racers keen to improve their lap times will remember that this Nautical Natters session led by Dave Lee was held over from July owing to potential disruption from a nearby concert.

The time has come!

As announced in July, Dave (Merlin 3779) will take the floor this coming Thursday, 14 September (7.30 - 9.30pm), to share his insights into this complex topic. Learn about the nuances of wind and tide on the Exe Estuary and how to use them to your advantage when racing.

Bar open! No booking necessary - just turn up! And bring a notebook!

  • The next Nautical Natters session after Dave's talk will be on 9 November 2017 (also 7.30 - 9.30pm) – come and learn about the National Coastwatch Institution, its role within the coastal safety community and how we can use it to help us stay safe on the water.

And while you have your diary open, a reminder that the next SYC Working Party will take place next Saturday, 16 September at 10am. Although working parties are open to all members (we never turn anyone away!), next Saturday's event is arranged with Cruising Members particularly in mind. (If you are able to register, this will help estimate the all-important doughnut requirements.)

Logon Info

If you are an SYC member we strongly recommend that you log on (or create an account to logon) as there is lots of functionality on this web site that is only available to logged on SYC members. If you are on a private computer, clicking Remember Me is also highly recommended.
