It should be a beautiful day on Sunday January 19th. Crisp, sunny weather is forecast.

The SYC Exe Sails Steamer Pursuit Race will be in full flow from 12 noon to 14.30. If you are a cyclist or pedestrian, come and watch and enjoy the spectacle. The car park will be full with competitors' cars, so do not expect to get a place.

Dress up warm and enjoy the day!

There was an excellent turnout for the RS 100/200/400 open meeting at Starcross Yacht Club on Saturday, 30th September with more than 35 boats from the South West racing. For images, click here.

An overview from Keith Wheatley (RS400, s/n 910) is below:

After a disappointing turnout for the Laser Open earlier in the month, Starcoss was delighted to welcome a big turnout of visiting boats for the RS Open on September 30. With a steady 10 knots southerly, Race Officer Russ Gibbs decided to lay a course well down the estuary off Starcross village. As the afternoon wore on the wind freshened and went into the west and the windward mark for the second two races ended up near the railway station.

What a great day we had for this year's Laser open meeting, held on 1st September: grey skies clearing to beautiful blue, with a wind, force 2-3, blowing almost straight up the estuary from the south-southeast, and wonderfully warm. The tide was rising towards its peak as the first race got under way, but was well and truly ebbing by the end of the final race.

Merlin Rocket Silver Tiller

SYC was host to home and visiting Merlin Rocket sailors on the weekend of 20/21 May. Mixed weather on the Saturday gave way to glorious sunshine and steady winds on the Sunday, bringing the five-race programme to a most satisfying conclusion. Thanks to all the members who worked behind the scenes to make this happen, and especially to the galley team for their excellent catering.

Photos are here.

This meeting is part of a series - next up is Brightlingsea SC, in early June.
