The Multi-Hulled Battered Spoon Trophy | Presented by Nigel Hingston Rear Commodore just before the D&D last year 2013. Words on the back of it explain what it for: Sailing like many outdoor pursuit sports is a great leveller. You may think you are the fastest helm on the Exe or the slickest crew member in history, but one wind shift, rouge wave, or knotted sheet puts paid to all your aspirations. This trophy acknowledges such cock-ups which provides much merriment and laughter on the Clubhouse decking long after the event. Oh sailor of misfortune, the fleet salutes you for anyone of us could be the proud recipient of this prestigious award! |
Copenhagen waves | For helm & crew on winning the Cat only race at the Squires. They were presented by Jonathan Gosling in 2014 as he had spent several months in Copenhagen University teaching |
Simon Dunford Trophy | ( Cats only) on the same day at the Patrick Kelly Pursuit Trophy Cup. Simon Dunford sailed for many years with Chris Davis they were great friends and he was a good supporter of sailing at the Club. We needed a new Cup for Multi-Hulls as it was not practical to race with the monos in a Pursuit race. Chris, following discussions with Simon's wife Deborah and the Hurricane fleet, has just commissioned a wonderful new Trophy in his memory |
Bridger Marine Catamaran Cup | Kindly commissioned by John & Janice Bridger. Guy is their son who sails Hurricane 403. Awarded to the 1st Cat on the same day as the George Eaton Cup for Monos |
