Notice to racing members of the Fast Handicap Fleets .
The Sailing Committee here by formally advises members of the Fast Handicap fleet that a request has been received by the Asymmetric fleet to allow boats from this fleet, the option of starting with and racing with the Fast Handicap fleet, should there likely be only one or two boats from the Asymmetric fleet intending to race on any given date - this would apply to Sunday racing . Should there be three or more Asymmetric fleet boats intending to race, then those boats would start in the dedicated Asymmetric fleet start .
This request has been formally considered and agreed, in principal, by the Sailing Committee but that the Sailing Committee, hereby formally invites members of both fleets to submit any thoughts they might have in relation to this matter . The SC respectfully invites all feedback to be submitted to myself, the Sailing Secretary or by this forum asap .

I understand your thinking but If you have an Asymmetric type boat then you should be sailing it in the  Asymmetric fleet not in the fast handicap fleet and my personal  experience is that Asymmetric boats hinder the fast handicap racing. I feel there is much more discussion needed to solve this problem.

Absolutely agree with you Steve and one of the reasons we became disillusioned with the racing format
We shoukd be able to get enough boats in  the Asymmetric fleet, quick check, we currently have 5 B14s, 6 Rs400s, 10 Rs200s, 3 Laser 2000s, 2 Laser 4000s and an rs800 who have just joined, plus various others such as RS fevas, visions, and a few topper asyms.

Hi Paul, If it benefits people's enjoyment of being able to race against others then I don't see an issue.
We all have a handicap PY and all of us that race should know the rules and deal with a situation that occurs accordingly.
We are after all a club which should be inclusive of all.

Dear Racing Members, further to the Sailing Committee’s recent post concerning the B14 fleet starting with and racing with the Fast Handicap Fleet . Could the Sailing Committee politely reiterate the Sailing Committee’s decision and advise members of the FHF, that the B14 fleet ( only ) has been granted dispensation and permission to start with the FHF on Sunday racing, initially on a trial basis, for the duration of the Summer Series only . Pleased to remind members that the B14 fleet currently start and race with the FHF on Wednesday evenings already .

The Sailing Secretary will publish an addendum further to this post further explaining and clarifying this and a temporary amendment to the SI’s published on this forum and in the SYC Official Notice Board .

The Sailing Committee kindly thanks those members who have kindly conveyed their respective thoughts, which the SC has considered and taken due notice of .
