SYC Working Parties offer members the opportunity to make a voluntary hands-on contribution to the care and upkeep of our beautiful riverside site. Currently we run three working parties a year. On the principle that volunteers would like to work alongside other members with similar interests, we aim each event at a different group. We thank the dinghy/yacht cruisers and the Junior parents for their considerable contributions earlier in the season, and this coming weekend it is the turn of racing members. Participation is not exclusive to these groups, and any member is welcome to attend more than one event - or, indeed, all three! Many hands make light work.
The jobs list varies with the seasons. There is always a role for volunteers prepared to reach for a shovel and wheelbarrow in order to help clear shingle from the launching areas and spread it on pathways ashore, and at this time of year the dinghy park is blessed with luxuriant vegetation in need of trimming (please bring gardening tools if you have them).
Work commences at 10am and finishes by lunchtime. We look forward to another good volunteer turnout this weekend - and particular thanks in anticipation to our stalwart shingle-shifters!
