Or perhaps, more accurately:
"See it, photo it, describe it and wait for it to be sorted".
Nah - not quite as snappy.
OK - just what am I on about? Well, a couple of years ago, the previous SYC commodore and rear commodore asked for an "app" on the SYC website that would allow the raising and tracking of faults and problems at SYC. Such things as
- faults with the SYC hire boats
- problems in the SYC clubhouse, race box or changing rooms
- problems in the SYC grounds
Such an "app" was added to the SYC website and was quite well used for a time. However, its usage declined - perhaps because of the Covid gap and people forgetting about it due lack of advertising.
Chatting to some of the people who fix faults at SYC, it has been decided to try to re-introduce the use of the app. So what does the app do? In summary:
- Anyone logged on to the SYC website user can raise a fault – here is a link (if you are logged on to the SYC website) to one recently created down at SYC using a mobile phone - https://www.starcrossyc.org.uk/faults/?fault=31
- When a new fault is raised an email gets sent to a select set of SYC Fault Admins for one of them to decide how best to progress with the fault. Generally, that would mean "assigning" the fault to another club member they think might be able to help
- Updates to the fault are recorded as it is progressed until the fault is finally closed as complete.
That's about it - but it has some nice features including the ability to upload photos of the problem and sending emails to the people involved as progress is made.
So where is the app? Three ways to find it
- click the website Search icon and type something like "faults" or "broken" or "problem"
or - navigate the website menu items i.e."Content" / "Updates" / "Report a fault"
- clicking this link
