Our very best wishes to sisters Eloise and Izzy, both from SYC, who are currently (in mid-July 2024) competing in two entirely separate youth World Championships in southern Europe - a rare distinction for any family or club!
- Izzy and her helm Lia (the right-hand two in the photo below left) are participating from 17-21 July in the women-only 49erFX Junior World Championships on the Arousa estuary in south-west Galicia (Spain) which is run in parallel with the men's 49er event.
Eloise and her crew Ollie (below right) are representing Great Britain from 13-20 July in the Nacra 15 multihull class at the 53rd Youth Sailing World Championships amid glorious mountain scenery on Italy's Lake Garda.
Selection for the GB squad at Lake Garda (group photo, right) was a huge achievement for Eloise and Ollie as only one boat from each country can qualify in each of the 11 classes at the Youth Sailing World Championships, which bring together the best U19 sailors from all over the world. With a total of 418 sailors from 70 countries this is a very prestigious event.
