This year the dinghy racing for the Exe Regatta is on the weekend of 20 and 21 June. In recent years this has been a really fun event with friendly and relaxed racing. This year the racing will be across two courses positioned between Starcross and Lympstone, with separate fleets for multihulls and fast, medium and slow handicap. The slow handicap fleet is for Teras, Toppers and ILCA 4.7s (and other similar boats) and will have a shorter course appropriate for these sailors. The event is free to enter and is known for the richness of its prizes, provided by a range of very generous sponsors. There is also a free-to-enter raffle open to all competitors and helpers, with a similarly full set of prizes.
Once again this year the format of the event is designed to accommodate entries from all the clubs on the Exe. The courses and online briefing will be sent out beforehand, and there will be an events WhatsApp group to communicate with competitors whichever club on the Exe they launch from. Races are targeted at 45 minutes and there will be two each day, so it's not too long a day out for competitors launching from further away.
Entries close at 2300 on Wednesday 17 June and are limited to 75 boats, so don't miss out. You cannot enter on the day, so be sure to get your entry in by Wednesday 17th. Entry is via the Starcross YC events page at https://www.starcrossyc.org.uk/syc-events.
