(Article updated 7 October)
On Sunday 12 October we are holding our annual fundraising event in support of the RNLI.
The day starts with the Rough and Tumble Trophy race (for multihulls, start 9:45) and the RNLI Pursuit Race (for monohulls, first starts at 10:00). A donation of £5 in aid of the RNLI is invited for entry to either race.
Ashore, meanwhile, the RNLI's Exmouth Branch will be joining us for the day, setting up a stall in the Clubhouse with plenty of their wares for sale. Now is the time to stock up with their Christmas cards, RNLI-branded small gifts and clothing such as woolly hats - the selection is slightly different each year, so do make time to browse and see what is on offer.
After racing a soup ’n' roll lunch will be available, with profits also going to the RNLI.
We strongly encourage Club members to support this event and to help raise a goodly sum on behalf of SYC in aid of 'the charity that saves lives at sea'. All RNLI crew members are volunteers, giving their time and braving the elements for no payment, but the charity has to find funds for training, personal equipment for volunteers and of course the lifeboats themselves.
- STOP PRESS Alongside their RNLI merchandise the team will be selling tickets (£1 strictly cash-only please) for the Exmouth RNLI Christmas Hamper Raffle. There are six hampers, each containing goodies generously donated by businesses and individuals in Exmouth. For more information please see Exmouth RNLI Facebook page.
