Is it possible to change just the inner tube on a trolley wheel?
Any tips on how to get the tyre off?
(I’d get a new wheel but that’s properly stuck on!)

    Hi Claire

I've not seen replacement inner tubes for sale  - but I have repaired them several times.  You will need to get the wheel off though (spray it with plus gas and then hit it with a big mallet).

    Once the wheel is off.
    - deflate the tyre
    - using bicycle tyre levers or the ends of two table spoons lever the tyre over the rim on one side.  You should now have one rim of the tyre inside the wheel and one outside.
    - you can now pull the inner tube out of the open side (you may need to undo a nut holding the valve in place) - fix the inner tube with a bike repair kit if its fixable
    - put the deflated inner tube back in (reverse of getting it out)
    - prise the rim of the tyre back on over the wheel rim - being careful to check that the inner tube isn't trapped
    - inflate tyre again

If you can get the wheel off and find a temporary replacement on Sunday I could probably fix it for you after the race

    Mark.

    Claire,

    Get some of these...

    www.ebay.co.uk/itm/14-PUNCTURE-PROOF-BLA...p2057872.m2749.l2649

at £24.48 for two and never have to worry.

Are you sure its a puncture? As the valves tend to leak and/or the core comes apart.

Not sure you can buy just the tube as generally they come as a tyre + tube set.

Puncture proof would be good - but most wheel barrow wheels tend to have a smaller axle than the typical dinghy launching trolley.  These seem to have a axle size of 1/2" which I'm pretty sure will be too small.  There may be others with adjustable axle size options.

Mark, the ones specified are available with 25mm bore, so fit standard launching trolley. To see and feel some, see the committee boat bogies in the tent..

Tubes are available from Boatshed sales, with or without a tyre.

Beware 25mm bore. They won't fit. Trolley axles are 1in. Trolley wheels are 26mm bore...
