Changing rooms open but no showers?

Can I ask why the showers are not available when the RYA guidance clearly states that they are allowed to open?

Given the current weather patterns it would seem particularly harsh to keep them closed...

Can indoor facilities and changing rooms open? Indoor sport is permissible with no limitation on numbers for organised sport. Changing rooms and showers will be able to open, but you should encourage participants to avoid or minimise use where possible (for example, by arriving in kit and showering at home) and to minimise the time they spend in the changing area. Participants should socially distance whilst in changing rooms. More than one household can use changing facilities at one time, but they must not mix and must adhere to capacity limits which must be aligned with the ventilation rates permitted by the venue.

Changing room and showers at our gym are fully functional and not many people come out of a Pilates class suffering mild hypothermia!

Just so you are all kept up to date. We will be opening the use of the showers as soon as practically possible, but we have a (legal) duty of care to make sure that the showers are safe, having been left out of use for over a year. We have to have the water properly tested for bacteria, such as legioaires disease and to make certain that it is OK for everybody to use. With current timescales this is unlikely to be until after June 20th.

How come the testing is taking so long?

Will the showers be available for the Merlin open? Or is there a way of having them tested in time?

I can imagine no showers being a bit off putting for visitors.
