I note that Solo 5820 has been marked down as did not start, which is incorrect. The  universal joint broke on my tiller extension before the delayed start, as explained post race to the RO and again to Ralph who was overseeing proceedings. Nevertheless, I did start and then retired having sailed 50 metres on the first reach. This was done so that retirement points may be awarded.

Given I was chasing you for all of those 4 laps I think I can confirm you did four laps.  I have updated the number of laps and rescored the race/series and note that you now beat me by 8 seconds

I have changed your scoring code to DNF (which we also use for RTD).  Actually DNS and DNF/RTD have the same score in the series - its DNC (i.e you didn't launch} -  that gets the big number of points.

You may need to refresh your browser to see the updated results (F5)

Mark,

Slow Handicap...I (Solo 5729) completed two rounds, as indicated on results, and then came in as it was the originally displayed number of laps. I'm currently shown as DNF; could you please convert my time to a result?

Additionally, Dave Bartlett (DZero 236) was, metaphorically, crossing tacks with Mike Bagge (Laser 17) at the end of lap 2 but is shown as being about 3mins behind him on the water.

And just to, potentially, add to the woes, the laps are still shown as 3 rather than the 2 at which the times were taken...will that throw the average laps times out?

Enjoy your breakfast!

OK that one is going to take a little more investigation.

The OODs used the "change finish lap" option as intended.  This will take the results from lap times recorded at lap 2 - but I suspect that the DNF they gave you when they saw you come in is overiding the timing.

It will probably be tomorow before I can sort this one.

Mark,

If it's easier to make a 'manual' entry, I was just ahead of Bob Beare (Laser 200838) when we finished the second lap, so I'd be happy with 41:00 as my elapsed time.

Good guess - the OODs timed your second lap at 40:57.  I have removed the DNF as you clearly completed two laps and republished the results.

Dave Bartletts time for two laps looks wrong though if you saw him close to Michael Bagge after two laps.  At lap 1 he was timed as being 00:27 seconds ahead of Michael, but after 2 laps he was timed as being 02:55 behind Michael.  I'm fairly sure that I crossed the leaders in your fleet near club as you were just starting the aborted lap 3.  At that point I'm fairly sure that Dave was in the lead, but only a few seconds ahead of the leading Lasers.  Is that plausible?.  Can anybody else confirm the D-zero's position relative to the leading lasers at the end of lap 2.

I'm not 100% on this but i think i was just behind Mike Bagge after lap 2 i believe 39:05 would be in the region of my elapsed time. Hopefully either Mike or David Matthews who was also close to us may recall.

I'm not sure where you were relative to Mike but I can confirm you were ahead of me.

That all seems consistent.

I have corrected Dave B's time and updated the results.

Unless I hear any more I think I am done here!

I also completed 2 laps but I'm shown as DNF (Solo 3835).

Hi Roy

The OODs only timed you crossing for lap 1 in 00:23:57.  I can see that they marked you as DNF after all the racing had finished - which implies that they missed you on lap 2, rather than spotted you coming ashore early.

Can you remember who you were near when you crossed for lap 2?  Claire Hughes (Laser Radial) or Nigel McKay would likely have been nearest.

If there was no one close theyn I can give you an average lap time based on the lap that was recorded.

Hi Mark
There was nobody close when I finished so I'm happy with average based on lap 1. I think I was probably last so it's not going to affect anyone else's results!
thanks
Roy
