That's an impressive turn out! How big was the SYC Seafly Fleet at that time?

Apologies for delayed response in answer to your question Alistair . The entry was around 36 for this event, with a third of the fleet being club boats . During the late seventies and eighties the Seafly class was very strong and active at the club, with good and regular numbers enjoying good club racing . Alan Brook won a very competitive and close battle, winning the 1986 nationals, which went down to the last race .

Very memorable days and sailing !

Great photos- thanks Paul. In 1988 I bought Seafly 48 with a wooden boom which only lasted a couple of races!  A few years later I bought Carol Lanham’s Seafly 523. The fleet was still strong in the 90’s. Here are a few photos from the August 1993 Nationals at SYC.

Thanks Simon ! Another good sizeable fleet . Looks like we’ve a good collection of pictures to remind us of those good old days and of members sadly no longer with us . The class is enjoying a revival these days with a new builder and new glass boats being built, with new internal layouts . The association is back up and running and has now has a Facebook page .

Good days and good memories !
