Members will know we have had to cancel the Fitting Out Supper due to low ticket sales, despite the work put in by the team planning the event and preparing decorations (which will be reused in the Autumn.)
We need to understand whether this was due to particular circumstances eg at the end of the Easter holidays, a hangover from Covid causing a reluctance still to take part in inside events, changes in members' other activities or anything else.
The club 250th anniversary event at Powderham last year was a tremendous success , so it clearly is the case that a large number of members are interested in social events. Should we move the Fitting Out to slightly later next year perhaps ?
DIY BBQs in the summer on Watersports Days were popular at one time. The BBQ is being refurbished in preparation for the May 7 Coronation  apres- sail, so will be available .
Normally , I would be most reluctant to spark a Forum debate as , how shall I put it, people don't hold back in criticising , but in this case all comments and especially positive suggestions would be most welcome.

This clashed with the end of the week of Easter - we had family staying all that week and not due to leave until the Sunday.
Avoiding school holidays would be a good idea, lots of us have family who live away.
Hope this helps

Thanks Kathy
Yes we do need to be careful on the timing.
There are social media groups  within SYC for the Cruisers, Dinghy Cruisers and Juniors.
Liz points out these are likely to be more effective media for getting groups of people together at the socials than eg Website articles. There may be other groups I don't know about. Some  of the dinghy Fleet Captains might be worth using as liaison points as well.
