Ropes- Reuse; Re-purpose; Recycle

You’ll probably be aware that you can buy rope for your boat that have been made from recycled ropes. Liros is one manufacturer that does this and through a contact with Jimmy Green Marine we now have a Rope Recycling Box which is in the members room. I was doing a spring clean in my garage and had lots of old rope there. So I have put some in the box and left some just in front of it. (Including some old 12mm braid on braid halyards) Some of it may be able to be re-purposed by SYC members and if so feel free to take what you can use. Otherwise feel free to add some of your old redundant (polyester or nylon only) rope to the box and we will get it taken away for recycling. It's just a very small contribution to a greener future!
