SYC webcam

Yes - there is a known fault with the network. A date for the fix isn't available yet, I'm afraid.

No black screen for me just a video of the safety boats being tinkered with every time day or night. Must be a video on refresh.

What you see is dependant on which of the "streaming methods" is used (see the selection at the top left of the webcam page)

The webpage has some (limited) logic to try and figure out which to use by default. Most people will default to either "MSE" or "WebRTC" and both of these are showing dark/blank because there is no up to date video stream because of the network fault. If you select "JPEG" you get an old image of the moorings and "compatible" shows the short video stream you mention of the safety boats being deployed. The network "broke" at 10 past 9 on last Sunday (10th) and that ties in with the safety boats being deployed.

I'm sorry I can't say more on this forum about what the problem is with the network at the moment or when it will be fixed. Hopefully it won't be too long. If you want more info, chat to myself, Robin Charles or Mark Elkington down at SYC.

I know that some of you have already noticed that the SYC webcam is back up and running

Many thanks to Gregor Kaniak, Robin Charles and Nick Walding (the ever helpful commodore of LSC) for getting us to a solution. There is a little more work to permanently fix some broken kit but hopefully what have in place now will last until then.
