Race officer developments

Starcross is perhaps the premier dinghy club in the Southwest and prides itself on having a thriving junior section, competitive weekly racing and well organised and efficient open meetings.  
We have a dedicated team of safety boat drivers and in John Allen, a beady eye to ensure that they are maintained and ready for race days.
Over the past few months, sailing committee have been discussing how we might further support and develop the vital functions that race officers (RO) undertake and are proposing:-
1. A programme of online and face to face training for 'rostered' RO's on risk assessing, weather awareness, setting up and running races including individual,  general recalls etc.
2. Engaging less active sailing members to join RO's for Sunday/Wednesday racing. By bringing more experience, we hope to support decision making, build confidence etc. 
3. Widening our current group of principle race officers (PRO's) to ensure that we can continue to run open meetings, special events e.g. Steamer into the future.
