Confirm your 2026 duties was created by Mark Elkington
Hi
First of all apologies for the delay in releasing Dutyman for requesting swaps. The club wants to use dutyman effectively and it took me longer than expected to complete the testing of some new code.  Steve Peat and Aidan Whiteley have also been developing elements of the change - but they were more efficient than me!.

Dutyman should be fully available from Thursday 8th January, and you will be receiving email notifications for your 2026 duties. You can then use the link in the email to confirm your duties or request a swap.

To make it easier for our hard-working and long-suffering rota managers - Matthew Holmes (racebox ), John Allen (safety boat ) and Matthew Tanner (clubhouse ) - the club wants to encourage all members to confirm their duties as soon as possibleLast year less than half of the club's membership managed to confirm their duties.

To improve things, we have done the following:

1 - the emails you get from dutyman should be somewhat less confusing - with a direct login link to your dutyman account. When you get your notification - click the link, check your duties, use the confirm all option or request a swap and you are done!

2 - if you login to the website and have some unconfirmed duties it will pop-up a friendly reminder - again with a link to your dutyman account

3 - and finally we will start sending periodic email reminders in February.

Please do your best to make life easier for our rota managers.

Happy New Year

Mark

Hi

After an initial enthusiasm for confirming your duties - it has now died to a trickle - with ~300 still needing to be confirmed.  Please can you find the recent email with your duty notifications - click the link and either confirm your duty (if you will be available) or request a swap (if you know you won't be).  We want to get  everybody to take this action to make life easier for our rota managers.

If that doesn't happen we may need to introduce some "hunger-games" jeopardy into the process - for example the last three members to confirm, will be the rota managers for next year!.  Just kidding - but taking a couple of minutes to do this job right now will really help.

Email reminders will be sent out in February - do you really want to get nagging emails from me every week - just do it now and you'll never hear from me again.

Thankyou.

One last thing. The website event programme now displays for each event - the duties that have been confirmed (green tick) and duties that are looking for a swap (red transfer icon).

regards

Mark

Hi
Thank you to everyone who took time to review their duties using dutyman and either marked them as 'confirmed' or requested a swap. Unfortunately the majority of members haven't done this, so our three rota managers are having to deal with ~60% of the duties currently not being confirmed. This isn't really fair on volunteers that are tasked with trying to make sure that every event is properly resourced.

Please can you take literally two minutes to check your 2026 duties in Dutyman (SYC website -> Essential Menu) - and either request a swap or confirm that you can do it.

Starting in the next week or so regular email reminders will be sent to members with unconfirmed entries - including a direct link to your Dutyman account so that you can "do the necessary" straight from the email.

It would really help if we could get 100% of duties confirmed as soon as possible.

Thx - Mark
